Did you know that your reproductive system, adrenals, thyroid, and brain are all part of the same system?
That in order for one area to work well they all have to function and communicate correctly?
And that if there are symptoms telling you there is an issue concerning one area, that most likely you have healing to do in all of the areas?
Let’s look a specific example that is not often talked about but that LOTS of women experience: Hormonal Hair Loss Hair loss can be caused by a myriad of issues:
1. Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
2. Iron deficiency
3. Zinc deficiency
4. Thyroid disorders
5. PCOS
6. Birth control side effects
7. Protein malabsorption from GI stress
And the list goes on!
Let’s look at the science behind even just one of these causes and see how it effects the REST of the system too:
Zinc deficiency & your Period - Scientists are not exactly sure why we experience menstrual cramping but it is thought to be caused by an inflammatory mediator in the body called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins can increase pain and inflammation in the uterus during your cycle especially in the absence of zinc! Zinc acts as an antioxidant in the uterus and when properly consumed in your diet has an anti-inflammatory effect that can reduce this mediator and in return, reduce pain & cramping!
Zinc Deficiency & your Adrenals – Studies show that rats that were fed a zinc deficient diet for 30 days experienced a marked increase in the adrenal hormones that lead to weight gain.
With even just those small examples, it’s pretty clear how interrelated all of these systems are. This information for most people can be both empowering (if you work to heal one area then you are doing great things for the whole body!), and overwhelming because there is so much to assess and consider.
