In the last few days, we've gotten several questions asking about how old a baby needs to be before we can see them for their new baby chiropractic exam. It may be surprising, but we can see babies for their exam as early as they are able to come see us! We've seen them when they are still fresh! 😍😂 It's so gentle, that babies of any age can reap the benefits.
The reasons we may see a baby right away would be:
a) if they are having trouble nursing or sucking 🤱
b) if they are having super restless sleep
c) if they are always holding their head one direction
d) their head shape is still a little "off"
c) if their labor was particularly long, or particularly quick
d) if they have had a tongue/lip tie revision, and they are still having trouble with nursing
e) if they are sleeping in "weird" positions
f) if they needed additional medical care such as intubation, feeding tubes, nasal cannula, etc.
The thing is, if your babe is having trouble with anything that affects their ability to sleep, poop, or eat--it adds extra stress to the whole family. We are here to help make this family transition as easy as possible for you and your babe, spouse and other kiddos. 👨👩👧👦👨👩👧👩👦 Both of us doctors here have worked with the tiniest babies, even preemies, so they are in fantastic hands to help them feel more comfortable, and do their little baby jobs more easily.
