Sitting During Pregnancy

Sitting

Do you find yourself slumping in your chair at 3pm, or crashing on the couch when you get home 😴? What about lounging on the couch or while riding in a car?

That can be hard on your body while you're not pregnant, but during pregnancy 🤰🏼 it can also can alter the positioning of the baby into an unfavorable position for delivery. 😑

Good positioning of baby = easier delivery = world peace. ✌🏼 Ok maybe not world peace, but pretty stink'n close.

The two pictures may look very similar, but the affect on your body and baby is different.

❌-She has her pelvis rotated under and she's putting her pressure on her sacrum. Your sacrum needs some serious mobility during delivery-you don't want to mess with that.

In addition-Ideally, the baby is in a position that the back of their head is facing the front of your body, when you lean way back, gravity can rotate the baby into a position called occiput posterior--or the back of their head faces the back of your body. This leaves them in a position that isn't ideal for birthing.

✅--You know those bones you can feel in your butt cheek--yes those-sit over those. This chair has a super deep seat, so it's hard to sit completely upright, ideally she's be even more upright, but doing your best to sit directly on them-or picking a chair that is more upright can help. The further you are over your sit bones the happier your pelvis, and the happier your baby is positioned.

"We'll shoot, I've been sitting like this all pregnancy, now what?" -1-spend some time on all fours each day (about 5-10min)--this helps baby move back into OAP if possible for them -2-get adjusted by a chiropractor who is trained in pregnancy care--this will help undo the pelvic misalignment from sitting on your sacrum

Tag a momma pregnant momma friend who had an aching back! She'll love ❤️ you for it.
