Can we talk baby sleep? πΆπ»π΄
Just to start--despite our cultural obsession with getting our babies to sleep through the night, there is nothing wrong with your babe if they don't.
When I have a family that is concerned about how their babe is sleeping, I always tell patients to listen to their momma/papa gut--parents know when babes aren't sleeping bc of something bother them rather than for needs like food or diaper changes. They generally will seem more restless during sleep and more agitated/cranky when they do wake up. When your gut tells you that something else is up, that is a fantastic time to get babe in for an exam and adjustment.
So what the heck does chiropractic have to do with helping my baby sleep?
Welllllll, a couple things-
1-Think about the last time you were hurting and how well you slept. It's hard to get comfortable and sink into deep sleep if you constantly have to try and get comfortable.
2-Besides biomechanical discomfort, our nervous systems aren't able to transition into our "rest and digest" program and chiropractic ensures that our bodies can easily do that by ensure our nervous systems are top notch.
What can you can do in between chiropractic appointments to help baby sleep?
An easy way for you to work with your baby's digestive is to give them a short massage before bed. By doing so, it sends messages to their brain to relax (this works for adults too-foam rolling, stretching, massage all helps your "relax" system). Pay extra attention to their larger joints and tummy.
Special thanks to this mini man. Sending sleepy vibes with him home. He's been growing like crazy, and his adjustments yep keep him comfortable and integrating everything new in his world.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help your baby sleep. It is so important to the overall health of the whole family to get as much sleep as you can with a mini.
