Pregnancy with a toddler is a whole new ball game. πΆπ»π
The good news is that there is a lot you can do in your daily life to help feel better and protect your alignment for your delivery.
Take a look at this beautiful momma π€°πΌ and her babe. The pic on the left shows a really common way of holding a toddler. Moms weight shifts forward on her feet and her upper body shifts backwards putting a ton of strain on her low back. π«π©
In order to better support your body while you hold your babe:
1οΈβ£- shift your weight back into your heels
2οΈβ£- gently but firmly engage your ab muscles (think of lifting your belly button up)
3οΈβ£- engage your leg muscles (this helps engage your hamstrings) drawing the back of your pelvis down
4οΈβ£- try and keep babe close in towards your body bc your body won't need to lean as far back to offset their weight
This all is in relation to holding your babe more in the center, rather than on a hip-more info on that to come!
Don't hesitate to message if you have trouble finding this position in your body, I'm happy to help!
